Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. This page lists the cookies chemistryrevision.co.uk uses and why.
The short version
We only use cookies the site needs to work: to keep you logged in, keep payments secure and remember which book chapter you came from. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not currently use analytics cookies. Because these cookies are strictly necessary, the law does not require us to ask for your consent first, but we still want you to know about them.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
wordpress_test_cookie | Checks that your browser accepts cookies before you log in. | Until you close your browser |
wordpress_logged_in_… and wordpress_sec_… | Keep you logged in to your account and protect it. | Until you close your browser, or 14 days if you tick “Remember me” |
chemrev_from | Remembers which book chapter’s QR code you scanned, so we can show the right extra questions and set your exam board when you join. | 30 days |
__stripe_mid and __stripe_sid | Set by Stripe on the payment page to process your payment and prevent fraud. | One year, and 30 minutes |
The site may also store your accessibility settings (for example, larger text) in your browser, so they stay the same from page to page.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or other cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will update this page and ask for your consent before setting them.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies above, you will not be able to log in or pay. The Information Commissioner’s Office explains more about cookies and how to manage them.
